Painting Bread: A fun food art project

Have you ever painted bread? I’ve seen several blogs showing how simple and fun it could be… but all of them used white bread and food coloring. So I thought we would experiment with whole grain bread and natural coloring. Guess what!? It worked!

Here’s what you need:

1) Whole grain bread
2) Fruit juice or fruit that you can juice yourself.
3) A paint brush.  (Food grade recommended.)We used kiwi for green, orange juice for orange and crushed blackberries for deep red.  We used a new paint brush – but it wasn’t food grade.

We were both really delighted by this clever combining of food and art.

The result was more muted than it would be on white bread – but still delightful!
